What Happened:

The red button roared and I was gripped with grief. My aunt's voice: "I don't want him! He's nothing to me. Where does Loren get off dumping him here?"

This is a headcanon based on this snippet. Tobias is maybe three or four at the time— fairly young! He's just recently lost his mother.... he can't recall how, but he knows she's not there anymore. His aunt is now his legal guardian, and she's NOT happy about it. She's screaming to someone on the phone, and she doesn't even realize (or care) that Tobias can hear her. Tobias is trembling, crying quietly to himself as his aunt continues to get angrier and angrier. It doesn't take age to realize how unwanted he is.

• His mom is ??? Out of the picture, that's for sure.
• Does anyone in his family even like him?
• No wonder he wanted to be a hawk.
